Foundation’s Sixth Annual Black and White Gala –
Dancing and Dining for Community Health Care
Petawawa (ON) – For the sixth year in a row, the Pembroke
Regional Hospital Foundation’s hallmark Black and White Gala was
a resounding success, showing no signs of slowing down. Uniting
the dedicated volunteers, physicians, community leaders and
everyone in between, the Gala showcased how dedicated the people
of the Ottawa Valley are to improving local health care.
“I am thrilled to announce that we raised a grand (net) total of
over $89,000.00 for the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation
this year,” said Marnie Stunt, Chair of the Gala Committee.
“Over the 6 years, the community has donated more than
$557,000.00 dollars to regional healthcare through this annual
event alone, and we cannot emphasize enough how important that
is.”
Attendees were greeted amongst the regal decor, then invited to
mingle over a Martini bar donated by Pembroke Heritage Manor (a
division of Allegro Retirement Residences). Dr. Joel Ward piped
the procession to dining-hall where Lt.-Col. Chris Moyle raised
a toast to the Queen and welcomed everyone to CFB Petawawa, and
to The Normandy Officer’s Mess. After some brief words from Mrs.
Stunt and Pembroke Regional Hospital CEO Pierre Noel, Dr. Colin
MacPherson led grace to begin the mouth-watering four-course
dinner, meticulously prepared by Marion and Willy Ullrich.
Michael Sicoly returned, and wowed audiences, taking on-the-spot
requests and kept everyone singing along. The whole affair
concluded early Sunday with guests still dancing as the
houselights came up.
“It is thanks to the tremendous group of dedicated volunteers
who work tirelessly to make the Gala such a memorable night.
Their efforts help shape the overall success of the evening, and
the attendees, music, and food do the rest,” remarked Karen
McEwen, Gala Committee Member.
“The Foundation couldn’t exist without the continued support of
our donors. Scotiabank led the charge for the fourth year in a
row as our ‘Gift of Humanity’ sponsor. And along with over 75
other local businesses and individuals, we continue to bring
comprehensive health care, closer to home. Their continued
support and generosity truly is inspiring” reflected Mrs. Stunt.
