“It gives me great pleasure to nominate Betty Anne.  Long before this program began, I told Betty Anne she was my Guardian Angel.  I first met her when I had the misfortune of being treated for kidney failure.  As my own doctor was out of town, I was being treated by several replacement doctors and needless to say, I was a little concerned that there wouldn’t be any consistency in my treatment.  That, coupled with the stress of my illness, was cause for more than a little distress!  Betty Anne seemed to sense my concern and took the time out of her hectic routine to talk with me and allay all my fears.  She was also instrumental in getting me an appointment with Dr. Delbrouck who happened to be at the Hospital for the opening of the Dialysis Unit at that time.

Her pleasant demeanor and her ability to recognize the needs of her patients and furthermore her willingness to go the extra mile are to be commended.  In this time of health care shortages and under-funding and the stresses that entails for those working under those conditions, it’s reassuring to know that there are those who go above and beyond the call of duty, to ensure that those in their care feel secure and cared for.

In this regard, I feel Betty Anne has more than met with requirements of a Guardian Angel!  I feel blessed to have been looked after by her and even though I have not seen her since, I often think of her and her kindness!  It was indeed a privilege to have been looked after by my Guardian Angel!”
